MORE BOAT WORK

REPLACING THE SAIL TRACK

The old mast track was warped and needed replacing. We ordered Strong Track, which, fortunately, would not fit over the old one. This meant that we discovered an unsealed area on the mast, where the boys who'd worked on restoring it hadn't bothered to paint it before putting the spacer back on--nor had they caulked the holes where screws attached the spacer to the mast: a recipe for disaster.

Jason was our point man: he went up in the bosun's chair to remove the old track and spacer. Then he cleaned the paint edges, sealed the bare wood, filled all the old holes, drilled new ones, and finally installed the clips that hold the Strong Track.

Yea, Jason.

While up there, he seems to have had a little fun, too! See him posing with Gov. Arnold's squint? We haven't installed the new jib halyard yet--the one we needed to replace when the boys in Mexico sliced into the first brand new one while working on the old mast track.
